spring is just a few f-stops away

hello---

it's been a while.

again.

i must apologize.

i don't understand how time passes.

it was the start of the year

the marking of a new decade made it seem

like it was different than the year before

like time would run slower

so that my head can catch up

to my heart

my heart to my hands

my hands to my feet

my feet to the ground

but as it turns out

the ground shakes

for but minutes

and in a thousand-fold

hearts break

and because of it

our days are permanently slower

and what used to be a rock solid number 24
might possibly be just a mathematical exercise in rounding off

even less time to do
the things we need to do

such urgency---
that one can find themselves
hurrying for time that is not there

so i took a walk
because life doesn't slow down

even as we have less time

it doesn't stop

it goes on

because it must

and so must we.

spring is slowly coming into focus

i can see the lighthouse coming into view

and i feel hope swell

in my heart

to my hands

from my hands to my feet

my feet to the ground

the ground i know is not solid

it will shake and reconfigure itself

and so the people whose feet are planted on it.
